Open AI Summary

Summary: This document is a report of a meeting that took place on November 5, 1981, between the author (LTC Robert J. Jachin) and an NSA member. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the involvement of the National Security Agency (NSA) in GF (presumably psychic) activities. The NSA member stated that no decision had been made by the Director of NSA on the recommendations of an advisory committee investigating NSA's involvement in GF activities. Two possible courses of action mentioned were either joining the Department of Defense (DoD) effort or initiating an effort within the NSA. The author also mentioned that support from INSCOM (Intelligence and Security Command) would be contingent on a request being made to DA (Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence) and approval from the Operational Commander. The document ends with a note indicating that other general topics were discussed during the meeting.

 SUBJECT: Meeting with
 06 November 1981
 1. (5) On 5 November 1981, from 1400-1515 hours I met with SG11
NSA member of DoD GF Committee, at my office. The meeting was requested
by He prefaced the conversation by indicating he was only
representing himself and not the Director NSA.
 2. (S) stated that the DIRNSA hayed not made any decision on any
of the recommendations of the advisory committee he had directed to in- SG11
vestigate NSA direct involvement in GF activities. While did
not directly state what the recommendations were, from the tone or our con-
versation two of the possible courses of action are: join the DoD effort.,
or initiate an effort strictly in-house.
 3. (S) I lasked if NSA became involved in GF activities, could we
(INSCOM) support NSA. I informed that first a request would SG11
have to be made to DA (ACSI) and it concurred, Commander INSCOM as the
Operational Commander would have to decide if or how much support could be
 provided.
 4. (U) Other conversation covered general topics.
