This document is a letter from Frank Cartwright, a committee member of an experiment called AMSAA, to Manny Gale, the Chairman of the Department of the Army. In the letter, Cartwright mentions that his assessment of the experiment is similar to another committee member named Laddie's. However, Cartwright expresses confusion about the experiment and questions the need for a microcomputer and lights, as a simpler method using a TI-58 calculator could be used. The letter is dated August 2, 1979, and is from the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, California.

 Manny:
Here's my version of the committee's assessment of the AMSAA
experiment. It does not differ, in substance, from Laddie's.
The more I think about what we heard and saw, the more baffled
I get. (By the way the Professor Tart experiment, using students to
guess which of ten numbers had been selected by a random number
generator can be done on a TI-58. Why all the folderol about a
micro computer and lights escapes me.)
