Summary:
This document is a summary of a visit to SRI International in June 1979, regarding the progress of selected INSCOM personnel in Remote Viewing (RV) techniques. At the time of the visit, three members had completed the initial phase of the training program, with a fourth member still undergoing training. The reports evaluating the results of the training were not yet ready. Preliminary assessment suggests that the results were above average, with one individual producing outstanding data. INSCOM personnel who attended the training found it worthwhile and helpful in understanding RV techniques and psychic behavior. Discussions also highlighted the need to address security concerns involving INSCOM personnel. The document is declassified and approved for release in 2001.

SUBJECT: Summary of Visit to SRI International (13-16 June
1979) (U)
1. (S) Purpose: This MFR highlights significant items covered
during my visit to SRI. The primary reason for the visit was to
review the progress being made in the training of selected INSCOM
personnel in Remote Viewing (RV) techniques and to establish para-
meters for the second phase of the training program.
2. (S) At the time of this visit, three INSCOM members had
already completed the initial phase of the training program which
lasts for one week. A fourth member was undergoing training
while I was there. Final evaluation/judging of the results of
the first three individuals has not been done and, because of the
backlog of other requirements, it does not appear that the reports
will be ready in the near future. Hopefully, the reports will be
available for review during our scheduled visit in August (Note:
COL Hamel and MAJ Watt will visit SRI the week of 6 Aug 79.)
3. (S) A cautious preliminary assessment of the work done so
far would probably state that the results were above average,
with one individual producing outstanding data. However, SRI
personnel do not want to make any binding decisions until all
the data has been evaluated. Discussions with INSCOM personnel
who have attended the training previously revealed that the week
was worthwhile and that the training sessions have helped them
grasp more fully the RV techniques and to better understand this
area of psychic behavior.
4. (S) Topics covered during general discussion periods
throughout the visit that are important are as listed:
a. (S) Security situation involving INSCOM personnel needs
to be "ironed out". Current contract requires SRI to report
