 MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
 SUBJECT:             Meeting with Under Secretary of the Army, 12 June 1979
 1.   (U)            Purpose:  This MFR outlines the significant topics
 that were discussed during the meeting with Dr. Walter D.
 LaBerge, Under Secretary of the Army, 12 June 1979.   The meeting
 was scheduled to provide Dr. LaBerge with an update concerning
 the status of the GRILL FLAME Program as being carried out by
 various Army elements.
 2.      (S)   Following individuals were present:
 Dr. LaBerge - Under Secretary of the Army
 Mr. Kramar - GRILL FLAME Project Officer, AMSAA
 Mr. Phillips - AMSAA
 MAJ Stoner - OACSI
 MAJ Watt - GRILL FLAME Project Manager, INSCOM
 Two members of INSCOM GRILL FLAME Staff
 Staff official from Dr. LaBerge's Office
 Representatives from MIA were unable to attend the meeting.
 3.     (S)   Dr. LaBerge opened the meeting by expressing his views
 concerning the GRILL FLAME Project.   He stressed that he was
 vitally interested in progress that was being made; how others
 felt about Remote Viewing  (RV)  as they gained exposure to it;
 how his involvement was or was not impacting on the various pro-
 grams;  and,  finally, he made it very clear that the project had
 his support and expressed to everyone that he was prepared to
 help us in any way that he could.   Dr. LaBerge wants everyone to
 continue looking objectively at all aspects of their respective
 programs and not to be concerned about making hard decisions
 until all avenues have been explored.

 4.   (U)   AMSAA and INSCOM personnel presented very brief
 updates as to the progress they were making with their
 respective programs.
 5.   (S)   Dr. LaBerge was very anxious to understand how the
 training was going at SRI.   Two of the individuals who have
 been through the training cycle at SRI summarized how they
 felt about the training.   They were very positive in making
 their reports.   Dr. LaBerge was especially interested in how
 they felt about the program and any impact it might be having
 on them.
 6.   (S)   I made the offer to Dr. LaBerge that we would like
 him to try Remote Viewing and that we would gladly provide
 the Interviewer and the target for the day.   He felt that
 would be a nice approach and we will attempt to set something
 up in the near future.
