 TOPIC:                      STAR GATE Overview Briefing (U)
 SUMMARY:                    (S/NF/WN) This responds to the Director's
 question of our 28 Jan 94 SAR,  "What prompted
 his interest?"   Mr. Danzig's interest in STAR
 GATE was prompted by a recent briefing that
 was presented to him by Mr. John Petersen of
 the Arlington Institute on non-lethal
 warfare.   During that briefing Mr. Petersen
 informed the Under Secretary of our probable
 existence.   Mr. Petersen,  a retired US Army
 COL, was once assigned to USAINSCOM at Fort
 Meade, MD,  in the early 80's.   As a result,
 Mr. Danzig contracted RADM Shaefer, USN,
 Director of Naval Intelligence, who in-turn
 contacted the Director, NMIPC, requesting the
 briefing.
